Padre’s Points to Ponder 8/15/25
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
A big announcement coming your way…starting this coming Tuesday, August 19, we will begin a multi-week ceiling cleaning and restoration project in the church that will cause significant disruption to our parish life.
Just like we needed to do in the Social Hall, the ceiling of the church needs to be cleaned, sanded down, restained, and sealed after decades of condensation buildup, which fosters mildew growth and significantly uglifies the solid wood of the structure. There are also areas of the ceiling that have been damaged by leaks, and one area by a small fire some 15 years ago.
As for the disruption to parish life, the church will need to be closed for the duration of this project, which is likely to last 8 weeks. Here is a list of how we will respond:
- All Masses (weekday and Sunday) and confessions will be moved to the gym
- Weekday 7AM Mass remains. The 9AM Mass will need to be moved to 7PM to accommodate the arrival of our Preschool Students each morning.
- Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (Wednesdays and Fridays) will be moved to the workout room in the gym, returning to the church once the narthex area is completed.
- Baptisms will be celebrated in the Social Hall, returning to the church once the narthex area is completed.
- Any funerals that arise will be celebrated in the gym, OR we may schedule at St. Jude. Please contact Bernie Sotola.
I realize how significant all this is, but it must be done for the future of the parish, and even at 8 weeks, it’s only a temporary shift. I ask you all to constantly pray that we be faithful to our mission, and that all we do be at the service of our mission, to make, foster, and send disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I stand in grateful awe of the passion and generosity of our All Saints parish family. May the Good Lord bless our endeavors and cause us to flourish in His grace!
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever!
All you holy saints of God, pray for us!
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Michael Silloway
