Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
An initiative was started a few years ago called “Giving Tuesday” to place a reminder of the call to generosity before our minds and hearts amidst the spirit of consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Many parishes and Catholic organizations capitalize on this international phenomenon with “I Give Catholic,” most often represented by its social media hashtag #iGiveCatholic. The groups identify a worthy cause or project to raise funds for, and the good people of God have an opportunity and invitation to participate. I think we’ve got a great initiative for All Saints this year.
Many years ago, the parish was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the burning fire of mercy and divine love. We have a lovely simple image of the Sacred Heart that hangs between the narthex and the sanctuary to remind us of our consecration.
I’d like to give the small image a new home somewhere here around the parish and put in a large statue of Jesus Christ, the Sacred Heart.
It would be appropriate for the statue to match the style of Our Lady and St. Joseph that adorn our sanctuary, and I believe they were made by Demetz Studios, who also make a beautiful statue of the Sacred Heart. And it is expensive! If you’re interested in helping to make this happen, I cordially invite you to participate in our Giving Tuesday #iGiveCatholic initiative! Links are on the website, in the eNews and more information is here in the bulletin.
Whether you can give or not, on this feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, the last Sunday of the Year of Grace 2025, my heart is full of gratitude. The Lord has over and over again shown up in ways both powerful and simple, through the Sacraments and through His Body that is YOU, the Church. Know that the Thanksgiving we just celebrated as a nation redounds in my heart for you. Thank you Heavenly Father for the gift of All Saints!!
Praised be Jesus Christ King of the Universe, now and forever!
All you holy saints of God, pray for us!
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Michael Silloway
