Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As October is now (somehow) drawing to a close, we have some HUGE and EXCITING events just around the corner.
ALL SAINTS DAY
First, our parish feast day falls on a Sunday this year, and we are planning an epic parish celebration. At the 10:30AM Mass, we will praise God for the Communion of Saints; I will preach about the brand new Blesseds who have joined that Communion, the 5 Georgia Martyrs, and then we will move down to the lower parking lot and gym area for a parish celebration. Bingo, Dunk Tank (dunk the seminarian, among others, maybe even yours truly), bouncy houses for the kids, the Georgia Bubbleman, Trivia, and a mini-version of the Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry.
We’re going all out as we are kicking off our parish’s 50th birthday, which is officially this coming May. Back in 1977, Catholic families began gathering in an office park called Exchange Place and formed a new parish community. Come to celebrate, and if you are able, sign up as a volunteer to help make it smooth and enjoyable!
RESTORED MISSION and NEW MEN’S MINISTRY
Save the dates of Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21. We are hosting John Edwards of Just a Guy in the Pew Ministries, for a parish mission, accompanied by one of my favorite Catholic musicians and artists, John Finch. John’s powerful witness and the other John’s prayerful music will put your soul in contact with the Lord and prepare you for Advent. This mission is open to the whole parish, just do note that John’s witness touches on some mature themes.
The mission will also be the kicking off of a new Men’s Ministry here at the parish: weekly gatherings rotating through four pillars of Fellowship, Worship, Formation, and Service. An Initial Leadership Team is in place and they will be commissioned at the end of the mission.
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever!
All you holy saints of God, pray for us!
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Michael Silloway
Pastor
