Festivities Are Coming

It’s somehow October.  I have no idea how, but it’s here.  And that means that the floodgates are about to open on so many incredible celebrations!

First, take a look at the saints on the calendar this month…there’s some heavy hitters!  This month has the feast days of St. Thérèse, the Guardian Angels, St. Francis, St. Faustina (Divine Mercy), Our Lady of the Rosary, St. John Newman, Pope St. John XXIII, Bl. Carlo Acutis, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (Sacred Heart), St. Luke the Evangelist, the North American Martyrs, St. John Paul II, Sts. Simon and Jude (Apostles), to name a few!

You literally can’t miss the Knights of Columbus Pumpkin Patch!  And no, I’m not great at balancing pumpkins on my head.

We have a few special Rosary-praying opportunities to celebrate Our Lady’s feast day: October 7 we will have a Rosary Procession around the parish.  Then the Legion of Mary is hosting a Rosary Rally on October 12 in front of the Church.

Certainly worth noting here that October 16 is Fr. Tan’s Birthday!

Since it was such a big hit last year, we will have a bigger and better Trunk-or-treat on Friday, October 25.

October 28-29 we will host Mr. Brendan Murphy who will give us a two-night presentation on the history of Christian-Jewish relations, exposing the brokenness and looking at how the recent Popes have begun to reconcile those relations.

Then, as October draws to a close, we will celebrate our Parish’s Feast Day, the Solemnity of All Saints, with tremendous joy.  On Friday, November 1, we will have our Holy Day of Obligation Mass schedule, adoration, and a special praying of solemn Vespers before the 7pm Mass.  And that 7pm Mass will be one for the ages…not only will we unveil the 14 saint portraits, we will have the honor of hosting Concordi Laeticia, a schola of young adults who will add their beautiful voices to our worship.  And to cap it all off, a parish dinner with food trucks to follow.

And that’s all before “the holidays”!

I love being your pastor, and can’t wait to learn, celebrate, and worship with you this month.

Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever!
All you holy saints of God, pray for us!

Peace in Christ,
Fr. Michael Silloway
Pastor
